Do you struggle to sleep through the night? Does your partner complain about your snoring, or do you find yourself constantly tired in the morning after waking up continuously? If so, an anti-snoring device could be the perfect solution for you.
Many people find snoring embarrassing, at whatever level it occurs, but the reality is that around 40% of adults in the UK are regular snorers. Of this number, around three quarters suffer from obstructive sleep apnoea – a condition where the severity of snoring is so intense that it can temporarily restrict your breathing, therefore causing you to wake up.
What Causes Snoring?
Snoring occurs when the airway is restricted during sleep, as the tongue and lower jaw relax and fall back. The lungs take in air more quickly to try and maintain the level of oxygen in the body, and the speed of the air passing over the soft tissues in the mouth and throat causes them to vibrate, producing the snoring sound.
Certain factors can contribute to the likelihood of its occurrence. Your weight, age and lifestyle all play a part in your susceptibility to snoring, as does the physical shape of your airway – narrow airways can become restricted more easily during sleep.
What are Anti Snoring Devices?
Anti-snoring devices are worn in the mouth during sleep, working to maintain the position of your tongue and lower jaw and preventing them from falling back and restricting your breathing. The result is not only an improved and quieter sleep, but also a much better quality of life for you; with better sleep you can wake up properly rested and re-energised. You will probably also find that your mood, attention span and concentration all improve too!
During your initial consultation we will discuss your situation and requirements with you, before taking moulds of your mouth so that your bespoke device can be manufactured.
